Fairy Heather

I inherited my mother's endless patience and strong devotion to finding the best possible way of living for a life full of health and happiness. From my father I received my resourceful creativity and conscious consideration for Mother Earth and all her creatures, great and small. Both parents gave me the precious gifts of nurturing, stability, encouragement, guidance, and freedom that I believe all children desire and deserve.

I have always absolutely loved and felt completely confiedent working with children. My life has afforded me the opportunity and gratification of working with children in many diverse situations. Growing up in Dallas, Texas as the oldest of five children, I have been trusted to baby-sit and entertain my siblings and young neighbors since I was eleven. While still in high school, I assisted the preschool teachers in the after school care program at my family's church. I worked as a counselor in an inner city outreach summer camp throughout college and a rural children's theatre during graduate school. I played alongside my youngest brother and his peers in Special Olympic events. Later, I supplemented my graduate internship and later my paid volunteer position in the Americorp Casa Verde Builders by working for a babysitting temporary agency.  This agency services diverse families in the Austin, Texas area as well as many church nurseries. I also adventured as a substitute teacher for the public school district in my suburban hometown.

I moved to Eugene two years ago, inspired to complete the Waldorf Teacher Training program and become at first an early childhood teacher, and finally a grades 1-8 teacher for this amazing alternative institution. Currently, I have completed half of the training and am making a living as a summer nanny for a wonderful, blessed Waldorf family of three children in their private home.  I also design and create the costumes for the Music, Theatre, and Dance Department and Lane Community College during the academic year, and soon will be teaching classes there as well.  Being surrounded by children allows me to feel happier and more fulfilled than any other constant aspect in my life.

Playing with children, I never stop creating, exploring, and learning or sharing my passion for these important, ongoing experiences. Working with children, I provide my community and my world with the best kind of service possible - being an active part and a positive influence in the life of our treasured future generation.
